Yale University’s Wifi Network Experiences Biggest Day Ever: 34,700 Unique Devices
(Submitted by David Galassi, Director, ITS Network Services)
Wednesday, September 5, was the busiest day ever on Yale’s Wifi network. More than 34,700 unique devices used the network during that day, with more than 15,900 simultaneous devices connected during the late afternoon peak.
To put this in historical perspective, the last two Septembers saw maximum simultaneous usage of 8,100 (September 2010) and 10,800 (September 2011) or 33% and 47% year-over-year growth. Despite the surge in usage, in the last 30 days only 15 Wifi help tickets were issued to Network Services.
